To meet the current and future needs of a range of high-demand jobs, CCAC commissioned the design of a 90,000 square foot five story workforce training center. The jobs include those in the STEM fields, the creative arts, a new culinary school, and non-credit programs designed to further align the college with twenty-first century workforce demands.
The College set high performance goals for the project, the primary target being certification as a Net Zero Energy Building. In order to reach the building performance goals, the design incorporates high-performance envelope and glazing systems, advanced daylighting & shading strategies, stormwater retention via rain gardens and underground holding tanks, optimized building orientation, and an on-site renewable energy sources (roof-mounted solar array/ canopy and geothermal exchange system).
