IBM Integrated Tech Center
Gerrod designed the interior architecture of the IBM Intergrated Technolgy Delivery Center, a 130,000 square foot office space in an historic Roshek Building in downtown Dubuque, Iowa. The Dubuque Service Delivery Center primarily supports IBM's US strategic outsourcing clients. Located in an historic downtown building, the Center’s 1,300 employees manage IBM's servers and storage systems and utilize collaborative problem-solving and defect prevention processes.
A number of design strategies were utilized for this space: considerations were made for workers in a computer-intensive environment; coffee/break areas promote communication and collaboration; and color placement supports wayfinding in exciting "loft-like" open plan spaces. The design also created opportunities to feature the historical character of the building and maximize views of the bluffs above Dubuque and the Mississippi River for all the facility’s employees. The design features daylight-harvesting light fixtures and a sound masking system; this project attained LEED Certified Commercial Interiors standards.
This project was designed while employed by Design Alliance Architects.
